Method behind the masterpiece

What was your inspiration?

Being of European heritage, the homeowner wanted to create a grand European home with understated luxury, character and charm. It was also important to show a nod to European homes of the past and bring in that sense of familiarity.

The homeowner was clear she was after a classically timeless aesthetic, with all the traditional detailing. While equally important was integrating all the modern-day electronics and appliances into the function of the home.

Ultimately, designing all the grand luxury timber mill work and joinery detailing, but with all the bells and whistles hidden behind the joinery.

How does the door hardware fit into that?

The homeowner wanted the hardware to be classic, luxurious and classy. The Italian made hardware was well suited for the European aesthetic and the Villa lever style perfect for added character.

The hardware gave the homeowners and their guests that tactile engagement required to appreciate the calibre of the solid brass.

What did you match the finish to?

The hardware and other materials were an eclectic mix of beautiful things, all chosen specifically for their use. Independently beautiful in their own way, but they all came together to create a beautiful visual depth of tone and texture in the home.

The lighting was chosen first, followed by the door hardware to match and lastly the tapware as the final piece of the brass puzzle.

What is your favourite detail in the home?

The powder room! This classically luxury space sits central within the home for the family and guests to enjoy.
